Mandalas + Meditation

This workshop invites you to slow down, relax your nervous system, and reconnect with your creativity through the art of mandalas.

We’ll begin with a guided meditation to connect with your breath. As you move into painting, you’ll carry that awareness into your work, letting each brushstroke follow the natural rhythm of your breathing. Whenever you feel tension, you can return to the breath, allowing your body and mind to guide the flow of your painting.

Mandalas are circular designs that have been used for centuries in cultures around the world, symbolizing unity, balance, and wholeness. Creating within a circle encourages focus, presence, and a gentle inward journey. This workshop is about exploring that sense of harmony and letting the circle become a space where your creativity can unfold naturally.

Many people struggle with perfectionism when painting, wanting every brushstroke to be “just right.” Here, you’ll practice noticing those impulses without judgment. Every time you catch yourself focusing on a “mistake” or tensing up, you’ll gently return to your breath. Mindfulness is about observing without trying to control the outcome, and the circle provides a comforting frame to explore this practice.

With your attention anchored in the breath, you’ll explore intuitive mandala painting in watercolour. We’ll try wet-on-wet techniques, letting colours flow and blend organically, and wet-on-dry techniques, creating more defined forms. As you experiment with shapes, marks, and colours, you’ll see how simple repeated elements within a circle can form intricate, meditative designs and reveal your personal style.

All materials are provided, including a watercolour kit to take home so you can continue your mandala practice beyond the workshop.
